DIY Maintenance Tasks Made Easier with a Lift

DIY Maintenance Tasks Made Easier with a Lift - Lift King - Car Lifts Calgary

If you’ve started repairing and maintaining your own vehicle, you’ve hopefully done the necessary research to determine which tasks are within your expertise. Many of these are made significantly easier when you have a lift, and we’d like to run through three of them in particular.

Oil Change

At-home oil changes are pretty common among DIY car enthusiasts. Still, it’s important to keep in mind that an oil change requires that you get underneath the vehicle. This can, of course, be done with low-cost tools such as wheel ramps or jack stands, but these don’t have the level of safety and flexibility of a professional car lift. With your car held securely overhead, you’ll be able to perform your oil change far more comfortably and efficiently, decreasing the likelihood of mistakes, mishaps, and physical strain. By the way, if you think you need to change your oil every 3,000 miles, you might want to read this article.

Brake Pads

Another common DIY maintenance task is brake pad replacement. However, this is a bit more advanced when compared to an oil change, so it’s of the utmost importance that you have the right tools and know-how to get it done. Once again, you’ll need to elevate your vehicle in order to replace your brake pads. As with an oil change, this can be done in several different ways, but without a doubt the safest is with a high-quality automotive lift. The more secure and comfortable your setup is, the better you can focus on avoiding mistakes during this procedure. Otherwise, you could inflict costly and unsafe damage.

Fuel Filter Replacement

If you fail to replace your fuel filter when needed, this can wreak havoc on your engine. When you compare the high cost of that damage to the low cost of an at-home filter change, it’s hard to argue with the DIY approach. That being said, this is another example of a procedure that you shouldn’t underestimate in terms of the necessary skill level, so do your homework and equip yourself accordingly. Some fuel filters will be found under the hood where the fuel tank is, while others will be located on the fuel line under the vehicle between the tank and the pump. In the latter case, a vehicle lift will make a world of difference!

When it comes to DIY maintenance you can do with your home garage lift, the possibilities go far beyond the examples noted here. We always strive to help our clients with excellent service and an unbeatable value, so call (403) 283-1020 today to get in touch with one of our experts!
